DOB:
12 January 1984
TV: Katy Fraser in
GRANGE HILL (BBC 2000-2001). Grange Hill was the first
thing I attempted and I haven't done anything back in
Australia; no films or radio either.
EMMA ON KATY: The
character of Katy was generally centred on me, with
the love of sports and being somewhat of a tomboy. I
don't share the same absolute love for cooking as Katy
had. I think Katy was too good and a bit too sarcastic
and cutting for my liking in general, however, it gave
me a chance to see what it would be like to be nasty
and it could be done every so often.
ON FAME: As Grange
HIll was my first experience acting, I was really nervous
but the cast and crew members made it so easy. It was
a really good atmosphere and it made my stay in London
that bit more diverse and enjoyable. I didn't really understand
the backing that Grange Hill had at first, when I realised
I think it made the experience that extra bit special. |

As far as I could tell, everyone was friendly and nice to
each other. As with all teenagers though, there was the occasional
disagreement that turned people against each other, but they
were resolved fairly quickly. I made friends with pretty much
everyone on the cast, but I really got to know the producer
(Jo Ward), John Hudson and of course Jude (Miss Fraser).
I think it was just realising the effort, time and patience
it takes to make a tv series and incorporating that into understanding
the making of movies. Some of the scenes were fun to film, the
one where I fell over throwing the boomerang was embarassing,
and it was challenging trying to fall properly. Probably the
most memorable was one where we were filming on location on
the day of the eclipse, so filming had to be stopped when it
went dark outside, so we rushed out and the camera guys had
made some glasses so we could have a look, it was spectacular
and very different from anything else.
FAMILY: I live with my
Mum, Dad and one of my brothers in Canberra. My other brother
lives nearby with two boys, so I have 2 nephews, ages 3 and
6.
HOBBIES/INTERESTS: I like
playing sports and have recently taken up soccer (football)
and inddor cricket. I enjoy going out with friends to the pub
to play pool. I like a wide variety of music, rock-pop-dance.
WHERE AM I NOW? I probably
won't go back into acting, I never considered it as a career
and while I was doing it my opinion changed, but as I haven't
followed it up yet, I will do other things. At the moment
I am going to concentrate on finishing uni and then travelling
around.
