I hope that i've put this thread in the right catergory  Undecided, If not though if the moderators could place it elsewhere please, thanks. I know that it is July and in a way I guess it's a time when lot's of people go on Holiday's, but latley it appears to of been real quiet with not many members appearing to be on  the Forum at all.

I just wonderd where everybody is these day's, as it only ever look's like as if not members people are ever on the Forum at any given time (day or night), i've noticed as and when I visit at varying times of day and night.

Am I alone in thinking/noticing this, what does other members think? I hope that it re-starts to become a lot more busy once again on the forum.

Once Grange Hill ended I suppose the forum was always going to become a quieter place. There are very few new fans joining now.

Also, the death of Simon has upset people so much; the forum is just not the same without him.  Cry

Yeah, I do think you've got both points sort of right there Malcolm.

As a past series of a TV programme, there's nothing current to comment on. Todd Carty might break a leg slipping on some ice and we can chuckle at that for a day or two, but there is no programme to comment on. We're making our way through the episodes commenting on them, but there isn't so much we can do at the moment.

I also agree regards Simon, though I wouldn't put it so much as people being upset, beyond the initial shock, but he was the forum and sites driving force, if not the driving force behind the entire series fandom and without him we just become a rabble of fans who enjoy talking about the series.

I don't know how though you create an enthusiasm though amongst something that there is nothing new for people to get enthused about however.

I have been watching BH 90210 (the one with Brandon, Brenda, Donna, David etc), not the new 90210 recently, and you look on the web and for what was a massive series in it's day, probably bigger than Grange Hill and the fan site that comes out top was last updated in 2002, two years after the series finished.

I had a feeling this would happen once the series ended, which is a shame but at least we still have the core members here though.

Simon is such a loss to the forum he work so hard to build up this GH community so I feel that we must try and keep it going in his honour.

Yes, it's a bit different now that Grange Hill has been gone for a year, and that poor Simon is no longer among us.  I think quite a few people read the posts even if they don't contribute.

I'll be continuing to put up magazine articles, and we have the pleasure of new stories from ILAW,and new location information from Eric.

Hi Katy,
I guess in a way though I was thinking too about how popular the Forum was when it re-opened. Thinking this has just made me wonder where other old members have got to.

I can see what you are saying Katy about Simon being such a loss to the Forum, as Simon had so much knowledge of Grange Hill which was so regardlessof if Grange Hill was still on TV as a programme or was not on until the next Series. This is greatly missed I think as was Simon's excellent imput on Digital Spy's Forum too.

May-be would a E-Mail invite be possible by Tucker or Jack to attract new and more members as well as attract old members back?

Yeah we could possibly do that, I think returning members would need something to return to though, so the best thing we can do is try and keep the forum threads as active as we can and hopefully that will help to entice them back.

Hi,
I don't know what other members reckon/think but since Tuesday appears I think to match the busyness of the forum of the 2003-2007 era. It just at the minute is like one of the most consistant spells (varying threads-wise and others - that it is realy like 2003-2007).

Though I hope i've not spoken too soon (and by Saturday i'm proved wrong)  but hopefuly not  Undecided

With any luck when I receive a copy of all Simon's stuff there may be an old forum database so we can do a mass mail out to old members.

I may be wrong, but I have an idea that Simon deleted the database to comply with data protection laws.

I think DPA was applied under the view that we didn't have the consent of all users to transfer data from one server to another, under a different slightly different agenda and operating name than what people originally signed up for.

Fingers crossed knowing Simon hopefully he kept a backup, if he didn't it'd be a shame but if there is the facility then a one-time mailing wouldn't hurt Smiley
