By celebrity I assume you mean famous people not those on the front cover of heat every week? If so my answer applies.
The one living famous person above all I look up to is Michael Stipe, the leader singer of R.E.M. Firstly because he doesn't do what magazines, fashion experts or the mainstream tell him to do, he does whatever he wants to do. When their album was released earlier this year NME wrote that they looked like geography teachers, they aren't the sort to change to impress someone.
Secondly, unlike many acts out today, he worked hard to get his band and his genre big. Some bands have instant success, R.E.M toured for 11 years before they first hit the big time. Also they achieved fame without changing their music. Many acts out today would go, well they sold more than me, let's change and be more like them, R.E.M never do.
Finally, he is a musical genius. His voice is beautiful, and the songs he writes are genius. The opening line to one of their newer songs, I turn on the T.V and what do I see? A pageantry of empty gestures all lined up for me.

I suppose quite a few.  Alan Ayckbourn for working endlessly to make so many wonderful plays, Norman Wisdom, David Tennant who doesn't seem to have let fame go to his head, Henry Cooper - who when I was a child had time for a chat with my mum outside a cinema.

Of course I may be biased but Todd Carty. He really didn't seem to mind answering my questions back in September and once he saw the GH annual his eyes positively lit up with nostalgia! Let's hope Todd remains on our screens for many years to come.

Simon, I always have a certain level of respect for actors or actresses who are willing to do cameo turns for TV series that helped them get to where they are these days and who when they become succesful, don't suddenly feel they are too good to go back.

I can't really say I've admired a celebrity for who they are though.

Sometimes it gets him into trouble though, remember all that John Leslie saga? When I'm getting ready for uni I always watch The Wright Stuff rather than all that Jeremy Kyle nonsense on ITV though!

hi guys,

Ray Davies from The Kinks, as hes never ever been after fame. I would love to share my upbringing with the  band with you  guys, eve though alot of you probably have never heard of, or even like the Kinks

Ray has never been in the limelight, in papers and stuff lol, probably back in sixties when you really got me first came out, but that soon changed when they got booted from america. He also lives in a normal  house, lol, not some great big  palace , locked away somewhere. Alot of his songs talk against that flash lifestyle "What are we doing in a place like this, trying to prove to the world that we really exist? Standing around all the egotists, sticking out like a zit, knickers all in a twist. Why are we? I dont know,  are we merely going with the flow t prove who we know, or drifting along acting a part in a show?"  thats why i loo up to  this band, for the innocence behind there songs, songs  that long for the warm, innocent  way of life back. They have a small, not very small, but small fan base  that is a close comunity, like a family, where we all meet up once a year. Every time i feel down its there songs i turn to, cos to me they are away from  the rest of the world. Like all their  80's and 90's stuff , only a fan would know these songs. I dont want to sound bad or anything, but  the current media always gets me down, and depresses me. I know there are alot of good stuff out their still, but few i think. I think in my opinion, the 90's started all the mumbo jumbo, lol, correct me if im wrong. Just thought id share that with you.

Grange  Hill is  unique  and  amazing, the  eighties wouldn't  have  been the  same  without it. Helen Kelly was a great  character played by a great actress. The Kinks are  my favourite band, thanks  to  my dad brainwashing me......I like The Kooks too. myspace. http://www.myspace.com/scattered82
