The Grange Hill Schoolyard prides itself on being a happy and safe community for all its users. Our house rules are designed to clarify the various responsibilities of community members. Please read and become familiar with them. These terms are retroactive and agreed by team members. Your attention is particularly drawn to section 1.2.

Forum rules
1.1 Posts are to be made only in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Duplicate posting (that is, reposting the same topic in multiple boards) is not allowed. Members should also avoid posting duplicate topics on the same subject in any of the boards.

1.2 Members must at all times post in a way that is respectful of other users. Harassing, flaming, bullying or otherwise abusing fellow users in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to appropriate action being taken.

1.3 Members are asked to not act as back seat moderators. If members discover an issue which contravenes this policy, they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a member of the moderator team. Please use the "post report" feature to report offences. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Members who constantly "act" as moderators may be warned.

1.4 Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience. Posting pornographic or offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning.

1.5 Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permission will receive a warning and their post will be removed.

1.6 Members should respect the bandwidth of other users and sites. The use of inline image tags pointing to data stored on third party systems for which the user has not received permission to link to may be removed.

1.7 Members should post in a way which is consistent with ’normal writing’.. That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. !!! and ???) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently breaking this rule, will be warned.

1.8 Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic.

1.9 SPAM is not tolerated here under any circumstances.

1.10 The moderating and administrating teams reserves the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is the decision of the team members and not users. The team members’ decisions are final and not open to appeal.

1.11 The above forum rules, where applicable, also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messing system may lead to the warnings stated above and/or the revocation of private messaging.

1.12 Posts containing any material which is perceived to be, or perceived to potentially be slanderous, will be removed. Slander is illegal, and is taken extremely seriously by GH Online (www.grangehill.net). A breach of this rule is considered a very serious offence: as a very minimum, a warning will be issued to the offending user.

1.13 All other policies/guidelines posted by the administration of GH Online should be considered an extension of this site policy.

Policing

4.2 Arguing with team members after having received a warning will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should this exceed three strikes a temporary ban will be enforced as above.

4.3 Users who feel they have been unfairly treated by the moderators are welcome to raise a complaint to an Administrator.

4.4 Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes re-registration under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new e-mail account of evade an e-mail ban.

4.5 An exception to the three strike rule applies when users contact team members personally (via any method) and post insulting, indecent or vulgar material. Such users may be subject to an immediate permanent ban.

4.6 Permanent bans are a last resort and much consideration is given before implementing them. While we may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurrence.

5.2 We reserve the right to immediately remove the accounts of SPAMMERS or any other user in breach of this policy without notice.
