Shannon Parks

School Days: 2001-2003

Shannon's insecurities mean she was always something of a fantasist. In Year 10 she was a compulsive liar and schemer, spinning tall tales which caused all sorts of trouble. They were so consistent few people saw through them. Shannon's friendship with Leah Stewart was tempestuous and when Leah won respect for standing up to Deverill, the pair came to blows.

In the sixth form the friends had made up but Shannon could still show off with her extrovert personality. There was much sadness in Shannon's life; her parents died when she was eight and she was brought up by her grandparents ever since. Shannon always feared getting close to anyone in case they deserted her; the death of her grandfather almost destroyed her relationship with Ian Hudson but love conquered all when Shannon was forced to face up to her feelings.

SHANNON'S SCHOOL REPORT
Year 10 Shannon is friends with Leah. She claimed she and Danny had slept together. Danny was wrongly accused of unlawful sex and excluded from school. Vikki forced Shannon to come clean, and Leah was disgusted by her actions. Yet Shannon's persistence and her revulsion what Tom had done encouraged Leah to seek counselling.

Year 11 Shannon and Leah came to blows. During Saturday detention, Shannon admitted she couldn't help lying and won a friend in Ian. Leah refused to forgive her. Shannon grassed up Darren and Calvin for their Desteeni scam.

Year 12 Shannon and Leah were reconciled by the break-up of Leah's parents, but Shannon was furious when Leah left Grange Hill. She also played for the school football team and scored the winning goal in the staff v pupils' match. Shannon initially fancied Malachay but then became infatuated with Nick, who wasn't interested. Shannon and Ian eventually kissed.

Year 13: Shannon's grandad dies and she withdraws into her own world, dumping Ian and falling behind at school. Ian is incensed when she gets friendly with Nick when everyone else is blanking him. Shannon pulls herself together and realises she wants Ian back - he wants her too and she chases him to the bus station but it's too late. Then Ian surprises her by coming back for her.
