Having now left behind her past as part
of Chloe's gang, Sammy's true self can now shine. This year
she has blossomed and it hasn't gone unnoticed by the boys,
though Sammy does get fed up with hearing about how everyone
fancies best mate Alison! Sammy is third generation Chinese.
Her grandfather opened a Chinese supermarket in the 1950s which
her dad and brothers developed into a chain of six. She is proud
of this empire but also feels under pressure to do well at school.
Sammy is intelligent and has an interest in science and the
supernatural.

Year 7: Sammy steals sweets from her father's shop for Chloe's underground tuck shop. Dad eventually finds out and makes the girls hand over a share of the profits. A possible friendship starts between Sammy and Alison on the outward bound trip, but Sammy has no choice but to go along with Chloe and pin down Alison, uncovering her secret eczema.
Year 8: Sammy does her best to talk Chloe
out of the lost property scam, but reluctantly
agrees to deliver a stolen MP3 player to its highest
bidder. That is Dawn, whose it was originally!
Chloe and Andrea film Sammy's confession with
their mobiles and the video circulates round the
school. Sammy has no idea why everyone's laughing
at her; Miss Adams hears Chloe and Andrea bragging
and punishes them for bullying.
Year 9: Now forging a friendship with
Alison, Sammy is noticing boys and hopes Ed will
ask her out. Unfortunately she gets drunk at the
dance contest and ends up being sick which completely
puts him off! By the time of the prom, however,
Sammy gets her man
Year 10 Sammy is hurt when Alison's secret
fling with Ed is discovered. There is a hint of
a possible romance with Alex, whom Sammy teaches
Tai Chi to help him relax before an exam. Sammy and Alex obviously like each other but cannot summon the courage to ask each other out. | |
