Position: Caretaker
School Days: 1981-1982
On the surface, "Tom Tom" appeared much like
his successor, Mr Griffiths, proudly sporting the archetypal
buff coat and grumpy exterior. However, Thomson was entirely
without humour and was forever moaning about "everything
getting broken in this place", having to carry out
the necessary repairs when things did. He did not like
the pupils - talking at them rather than to them - as
far as he was concerned they were all potential hooligans
and he was damning of Mrs McClusky when she sanctioned
a common room, knowing full well it would have implications
for his workload. He would happily have given errant pupils
a "clip round the ear" if allowed!
