TYPE: Firm but
fair Nickname: Hoppy School Days: 1980-1983
Well-named for his subject, Mr Hopwood was Grange Hill's
woodwork teacher. His handsome looks meant he was the
object of several crushes by the girls, most notoriously
Claire Scott. Whenever there was something practical needing
doing around the school, Mr Hopwood was always there.
But he could be tough at times; clouting Alan Humphries
whom he caught smoking, and putting Gripper in his place.
A good, paternal teacher respected by his pupils and who
is much missed.
SO WHERE DID HE GO?
To Milton Keynes, to become a head of department in
1983.
