Matthew was Pamela Cartwright's brother and was in many
ways a younger version of her. He was top of the class
for science and maths and was often called upon to help
classmates with problem solving exercises. Matthew was
a regular at school computer club but sport didn't come
easy for him, and he was not particularly streetwise.
Consequently he often found himself an easy target for
the likes of Gripper. But Matthew didn't let that spoil
his enjoyment of school.

Series
4: Matthew is a member of Computer club. He
writes a provocative article about school vandalism for
the school magazine; Mrs McClusky is horrified.
Series 5: H3 awaits
its sex education course and Gripper tells Matthew he's
"not normal". Baxter finds him trouserless
in the bushes; Matthew does not want to participate
in the programme.
