Maria lived at home with her overbearing father. In school
she was a popular member of the girls' camp; loyal to
her friends and up for a laugh. At primary school Maria
was chess champion - her dad pushed her into it - and
at Grange Hill it was something she'd rather forget. In
the sixth form tension increased at home; fed up with
being told how she should dress, Maria turned goth and
made a public stand against her father. Her rebellious
behaviour spilled over into school and could have rebounded
on her; thankfully the support of Justine helped bring
back the old Maria.
MARIA'S
SCHOOL REPORT
Year 10: Maria is introduced in episode one,
she's feeling unwell. She joins the others on the trip
to Dartmoor and becomes attracted to Jamie, the son of
the centre owner. Fran also fancies him and the pair's
friendship is strained.
Year 11: Fran and
Maria pursue Natalie, unaware it was Natasha who slagged
off Chrissie. Maria and Richard start a customised trainer
enterprise, easily hoodwinking Ray into buying a pair!
Year 12: Maria fancies
Richard, but he's slow to realise.
Year 13: Maria
is fed up with her father and has a gothic makeover.
She goes off the rails at school and is brought before
Mr Robson; things come to a head when father and daughter
row in the street. Maria goes to Germany with the choir;
she finishes with Richard.
FAMILY: Lived at home
with her retirement age father. A domineering man with firm
ideas on how his daughter should dress and conduct herself.
No wonder things came to a head!
