School Days: 2003-2007
The eldest of the Young stepsiblings, Karen is mature
for her age and a studious pupil. She often despairs of
Tanya and is constantly warning her not to break school
rules. Karen is headstrong and uncompromising in her own
way. A relationship developed with school rebel Taylor
but broke down when he got sick of her nagging. With Taylor
now assistant caretaker, they'll have to face each other
sooner or later!
Tanya and Karen's families merged in 2001 when Mr Young
married Karen's mum. The girls couldn't stand each other
and Karen would often answer for her actions. However,
Tanya's abduction caused the pair to bond like never
before. While Tanya still causes headaches for Karen,
she might begin to see her as something more than her
stepmum's "baggage"...

KAREN'S
SCHOOL REPORT |
 |
|
Year 9 Tanya steals Karen's diary and broadcasts
the contents around the school. Karen confronts her
and a fight breaks out in the playground. Karen sets
her eyes on Baz but Maddie warns her in no uncertain
terms to stay away.
Year 10 Karen isn't too pleased when Taylor
returns to Grange Hill but soon finds herself taking
a shine to him. When Taylor is excluded she sticks up
for him and tells him she wants him back at school.
However, his stubbornness frustrates her.
Year 11 Karen persuades a reluctant Taylor to become
a DJ on The Hill, and discovers his musical talents. Tanya's
ordeal brings her and Karen closer together and Karen
persuades Tanya not to hide away.
Year 12 Karen annoys Taylor with her constant
fussing over his attendance. She stuns him at the end
of the year by saying she wants a break from him.
Year 13 Karen introduces dance classes to Grange
Hill. After an initial slow uptake they become popular
and Grange Hill is entered in a local dance contest. Karen
is surprised by Ross's ballroom moves and they agree to
become partners. Karen reluctantly agrees to let Max partner
her when Ross is injured; but Ross recovers in time for
the contest. A disgruntled Max kicks Ross's leg in, leaving
him unable to compete and Karen is devastated. However,
Grange Hill still manages to get the runner-up prize and
they will be going to Amsterdam after all. |
