School Days: 1984-1987
(originally not a Grange Hill pupil)
With such amazing looks there were no shortage of male
admirers for Jackie Wright. She was a hopeless romantic
and enjoyed being swooned upon by Zammo. But she hated
the idea of being a trophy girlfriend - and being taken
for granted. Anyone competing for her affections, such
as Steven Banks, would only get a frosty reception. In
fact, Jackie hated violence and her loyalties were divided
during Grange Hill's bitter feud with Brookdale. But she
was devoted to Zammo. Their biggest test came during his
battle against heroin addiction, but Zammo kicked the
smack and their relationship emerged stronger than before. |

Jackie's family were never seen but lived on an estate near
Grange Hill. She was protective of younger brother Robbie and
always on hand to dish out sisterly advice. She enjoyed hanging
out with her mates and was easy to get along with; but if there
was something on her mind, Jackie couldn't bit her lip!

Series
7: Jackie is introduced as Zammo's girlfriend
and goes to Brookdale. Her classmates are incensed she
would go out with a Grange Hill boy - especially during
the schools' bitter feud. Jackie warns Zammo against getting
involved if their relationship means anything.
Series 8: The merger
has brought Jackie and Zammo together at school but Zammo
faces competition from Steven Banks for Jackie's affections.
Jackie goes off with Banksie and Jean-Paul for an afternoon
of joy-riding. The car overturns; Sarah Wilks is badly
injured and Jackie is excluded.
Series 9: Jackie worries
that Zammo is becoming increasingly distant. She soon
learns about his drug habit and in a violent confrontation
at school, Zammo knocks Jackie to the ground trying to
save his fix.
Series 10: After rejecting
Banksie again, Jackie affirms her commitment to Zammo.
Robbie is concerned about her sister dating a recovering
addict. Jackie and Zammo announce their engagement to
shocked classmates and teachers; both end up getting cold
feet and the marriage is put on hold. |
