School Days: 1986-1989
To many people, Danny was the class weirdo. He was
a loner, distant and walked out of classes which didn't
interest him. But behind the apathetic facade lay a
gifted artist with a complex personality. Danny showed
enormous talent as a contemporary artist and knew how
to take charge, often as a bossy ringleader. Though
he preferred his own company he got on with classmates
and was often willing to lend a hand. He showed great
passion for projects which did interest him, such as
Radio Grange Hill, but his short concentration span
left him indifferent to anything he didn't like such
as PE.

He was not afraid of authority figures; woebetide any teacher
who dared pick on him and no-one knew better than the fearsome
Mr Bronson. Despite this he enjoyed a good relationship with
Miss Booth, who encouraged Danny to make the most of his talents.
Danny was an excellent judge of character; memorably summing
up Mr Robson as "soft" on his first day and confronting
Julia Glover about being Mr Bronson's mole.
There lay a tragic reason for Danny's colourful behaviour. He
was one of twins whose other sibling died at birth. And he suffered
from an unnamed neurological disorder which required specialist
treatment in Aberdeen, which ultimately caused his untimely
passing in Year 11. But there was something about Danny's spirit
which endeared him to his classmates and he was sorely missed.
