Rebecca
is Grange Hill's deaf student
HERE IS THE FIRST PICTURE
OF Grange Hill's first deaf character. Rebecca-Anne
Withey, from Walsall, will play the as yet unnamed girl
when the new series begins in November. Rebecca, 19, was chosen
after a nationwide search for an actress who could sign.
Rebecca is no stranger to television; she's appeared in Channel
4's deaf magazine show Vee-TV. She is now a first year
student at Wolverhampton University where she hopes to set
up a dance/aerobics class for the deaf.

From
Grange Hill to Hollyoaks...and Casualty
THERE'S SOMETHING FAMILIAR ABOUT one of the new students
in Channel 4's Hollyoaks this Monday. The new girl, Olivia,
is played by none other than Rochelle Gadd who played
Dill in Grange Hill for seven years in the 1990s. Catch
Rochelle's first appearance on Monday night at 6:30pm.
Another Grange Hill favourite, Iain Robertson, was
seen in BBC1's Casualty last Saturday. As Grange Hill's
sinister Sean Pearce, Iain found himself locked up
after knifing Judi. But in Casualty he was on the other side
of the bars, playing a sympathetic prison officer disgusted
to learn his colleague "discouraged" an inmate from
reporting a sexual assault. Iain was seen in a large part
of the episode.
