THE WEEKLY NEWS FROM GH ONLINE
Issue 47 20 March 2005

Hello!

Alex returned to school this week and the Wannabees finally got their comeuppance - but is Chloe really sorry? Meanwhile, Alex helped Spencer solve a filming headache and the air warms between Baz and Maddie - but it's Kathy who could be left out in the cold. Back here, GH Online launches its new Locations section - every fan's guide to where Grange Hill has been filmed over the years and our Chat Room should return before long too!

THE STORY SO FAR...
The whole school gathered in a special assembly, where Mrs Bassinger read extracts for Alex's video diary. She reminded everyone the school would not tolerate bullying - and those who failed to say anything were as guilty as the perpetrators. Tigger and Ed felt guilty for making fun of Alex; Chloe was unrepentant. Alex's mum brought him to school. Ms Lawrence welcomed him but everyone stared as he walked through the corridor to Mrs Bassinger's office.

Mooey was excluded - possibly for good. The Wannabees turned on the waterworks as the headmistress tore strips off them. Mrs Bassinger ordered them to write letters of apology to Alex. The chill seemed to be thawing between Baz and Maddie - Baz suggested Maddie cleared the air with Karen - but she was having none of it.

Karen pressured Tanya for a decision about the e-mail. Annie urged Tanya to speak up. By now Karen had told Mrs Bassinger, who informed the police. They discovered the e-mail was probably genuine; but needed the girl to come forward. Kat congratulated Spencer for saving Alex's life but he blamed himself for everything. Kathy took charge as the film was behind schedule. Dawn found herself taking the part of a girl who'd been taken ill. Andy signed up for the mentoring scheme saying he'd do a better job with Alex - overheard by a passing Spencer.

Alison was hurt that Alex tried to take his life - why couldn't he have talked to her? She urged Alex to stand up for himself - and learn to like himself. Dawn confronted Andrea and forced the gang to apologise to Alex. Chloe didn't mean a word of it. The Wannabees found they'd been volunteered for Ms Lawrence's Community Cohesion Project.

Spencer caught up with Alex and apologised for letting him down. He invited Alex along to help with the film - Alex was delighted and Spencer felt much better. Kat told him filming was complete and Mrs Bassinger wanted a premiere for the film. Alex's day ended with friendships cemented with Tigger, Ed and Alison. Taylor walked out of revision classes and told Mrs Bassinger he didn't want to do any GCSEs. Mrs Bassinger urged him to sit things out - but Taylor wanted to go out and "find something he was good at".

As Year 11's first exam approached, Baz was more concerned with Annie and Karen with Tanya. Tanya finalized plans to meet Lucy. Annie counted a large envelope full of money in the toilets, almost caught out my Miss Adams. She despaired as the money wasn't enough - then she found a ring someone had left behind. Baz saw her offer it to two girls.

Kat announced plans for a Hollywood-style premiere on Radio Grange Hill. Kathy invited Spencer to her place and he accepted, much to her delight. Dawn and Martin discovered there were scenes missing. Kat was furious. Kathy arrived and was upset to learn Spencer had spent time at the other girls' houses. Spencer confessed he'd lost the missing scenes. Alex suggested they shoot a bridging scene to explain the gap - and that Spencer faced the music. Dawn and Kat angrily confronted Spencer - humbled, he offered to explain all to Mrs Bassinger if they couldn't finish on time.

Year 9 got their SATs results; everyone did well apart from Abel, whose marks were poor. Miss Adams was not pleased and Togger was furious Abel was apparently getting away with everything. Togger wasted no time volunteering himself as a ticket-seller for the premiere - when he heard the prize for selling the most tickets would be to hob-nob with the stars.

At lunchtime, Abel was catching up on work. He told Andy he was struggling to cope with his schedule. Andy tried putting Abel's case to Togger, but Togger was fed up with playing second fiddle and declared their friendship over. The time came for Tanya's meeting and she was getting last-minute nerves - before Lucy approached her in the playground. Trembling, Lucy revealed how she met "Ben" online and they arranged to go to a McFly concert. Ben never showed up - but his "uncle" did and bundled Lucy in his van.

Kathy walked in on Spencer and Kat's passionate embrace -but was embarrassed to discover this was a rehearsal for the bridging scene. As she went off in tears, Spencer was stunned to learn of Kathy's feelings towards him. Annie let Abel borrow her homework - the money fell out of her bag and was picked up by the cleaners. Annie was frantic; Baz watched as Annie frantically searched for the missing cash. But it was nowhere - Annie crumpled in the corner as her search proved fruitless.

Togger offered two tickets for the price of one; Malachay caught them in the act and confiscated their tickets. Karen pointed Lucy out to Mrs Bassinger; Lucy was furious and thought she'd been set up. Tanya tried and failed to convince her otherwise; Lucy said she'd spotted Simon's house. The police arrived as Lucy tried to leave; eventually, Tanya persuaded her to tell all.

Secrets of Grange Hill locations revealed!
One of the most frequently asked questions about Grange Hill is where the series was filmed. The last 28 years have seen several schools across London and Liverpool double as TV's most famous school.

In our latest GH microsite, Locations, Geoff Phillips and his camera travel across the capital in search of every location used in Grange Hill, from the first series until the programme's withdrawal from London in 2002. These include Kingsbury High School (the first Grange Hill), ther Borehamwood and Elstree area, and many more besides. Locations is an ongoing project; more content will be added over time and there are still several gaps waiting to be filled in!

The Chat Room is coming....
GH ONLINE'S CHAT ROOM
will hopefully be back in service in time for Easter. It was forced offline with the rest of the site in January, but has not returned since due to technical issues. Now it's almost ready to go again and we promise it will be better than ever. Stay tuned for more news!
