THE WEEKLY NEWS FROM GH ONLINE
Issue 40 23 January 2005

Hello!

Good news folks - most of GH Online is now back but still one or two things offline. However we're still under threat from Mersey TV so if you haven't dropped them a line yet, please do so. And e-mail the BBC as well - more details below. Excitement and trauma in equal measures at the Hill this week, with plans afoot to relaunch Radio Grange Hill and Alex feeling increasingly isolated...

THE STORY SO FAR...
Sammy brought in the sweets for Chloe's tuck shop but felt guilty about taking them. Chloe swiped Alex's car; Year 9 were relieved to discover Miss Adams was their permanent form tutor.

Karen told Baz to get over Maddie. Togger dumped Baz's bike in the pool and Baz found it when he went for a dip. Karen convinced Malachay to listen to Taylor's mixes. Martin suggested a school radio station, Mrs Bassinger liked the idea and told Malachay to set the wheels in motion.

Andy was looking at Tanya's website and correctly guessed her password - "Togger"! Tigger rescued Alex's car from Chloe's locker. Andy was not pleased to end up in goal on the football pitch. Togger saved the winning penalty. Furious with Tigger, Chloe went to Malachay, claiming he'd been bullying Alex and had taken his sweets! Malachay urged Alex to report any bullying.

Year 11 were furious Malachay had "stolen" Martin's idea. Taylor and Maddie set Mrs Bassinger straight; Baz became increasingly jealous of Maddie's friendship with Taylor. Chloe jumped Alex and warned him never to get his mates on her again. Tigger let rip at Alex for having been caught, and made off with his car. Togger found his clothes in the swimming pool!

Mrs Bassinger disallowed a text vote and ordered Maddie to organise a traditional ballot to name the radio station. Kat and Maddie left Spencer to organise the ballot papers. Spencer invoked the fury of Annie by suggesting "The Mentalists" for a name.

A new maths teacher, Mr Fox, arrived at Grange Hill full of unorthodox teaching methods. Year 9 thought he was a bit loopy at first; Emma was forced to admit his class was fun. Spencer was astounded when Kat said she'd consider going to the cinema with him - if he went outside with a megaphone to drum up support.

Mr Malachay volunteered Tigger to run his Healthy Eating Scheme. Alex's attempt to feign illness in PE cut no ice with Malachay but he made a good effort as batsman, despite Chloe's malicious jibes. He got talking with Alison and they found they shared common ground. At lunchtime, Alex felt left out as Ed played football with Tigger.

The Wannabees started their own underground tuck shop. Annie realised Malachay was trying to get all the glory for the radio project. Maddie protested to Mrs Bassinger. The ballot ended in a draw, Mrs Bassinger got the casting vote - against Malachay.

MOST OF THE SITE RESTORED, BUT THE THREAT REMAINS...
Most of GH Online is now online again following the recent attempt by Mersey TV to shut down the site in a long-running dispute over use of copyright images. But we still can't use any Mersey TV photos, even video captures of the new series.

It's important to keep up the pressure on Mersey TV if you enjoy GH Online and want the site to carry on. So if you haven't done so already, please e-mail both Mersey TV and the BBC to tell them how you feel. Why the BBC? Because they commission Grange Hill from Mersey TV and it's possible they may be sympathetic to our case. Click here for full details of how to show support.
