Phil Redmond collects CBE from the Queen
GRANGE HILL CREATOR
Phil Redmond received his CBE this week for services to the broadcasting industry.

Phil, 55, admits to not being an avid follower of royalty: "I suppose, like everybody, you don't take too much interest until that letter comes through the door," he told the Liverpool Daily Post. "When you get the award you actually realise how high up in the honours system it is. It really is an extra special honour."

Phil Redmond began his TV career as a comedy scriptwriter in the 1970s. In addition to Grange Hill, he has also masterminded Channel 4 soaps Hollyoaks and Brookside.
