YOUR WEEKLY E-MAIL FROM GH ONLINE
Issue 21: 20 June 2004

Hello!

At last it's time for the talking to end and the programmes to start. GHTV, the online TV channel from GH Online, launches this Tuesday with the internet's first regular scheduled TV service. And classic Grange Hill too! So this week's GRANGE HILL NEWS is a GHTV special, telling you everything you need to know about this newest of stations....

HERE AT LAST - TUESDAY 5:10pm
GHTV's programmes will start at 5:10pm this Tuesday, 22 June.

Starting the ball rolling is another chance to see the first nine-part series of Grange Hill, originally shown in 1978. There are three chances to see each episode - 5:10pm, 7pm and 9pm. Later in the series a late screening could be added.

SERIES ONE - WHERE TOGGER GETS IT FROM...
If you've been watching the latest series of Grange Hill you'll know that rascally Togger has a famous uncle - Tucker Jenkins! The first series of Grange Hill introduced Tucker to our screens and he was as much a heart-throb as Togger is now.

There's a lot of Togger in Tucker - watch over the coming weeks and see him fooling around in the school pool, messing around in an old munitions dump and even getting left behind in his first day when the other first years have been assigned a form! Some things have changed - you'd never get the cane at school today - but a lot hasn't and Tucker's class were as mischievous as that of his nephew. Watch his scrapes when Series 1 start on Tuesday!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
GHTV is streamed live from our servers during broadcast times and you can only watch if you have a PC connected to the internet. To start watching simply visit the main GHTV page and select the viewing option which best suits your PC's connection method. Dialup users must ensure they select the 56K MODEM option, whilst those with broadband can take advantage of the high-quality BROADBAND feed.

Either way, the GHTV programmes will appear in their own window. You can pause the action using the buttons adjacent to the screen, or cancel the button and leave at any time.

The GH Online stream buttons function 24 hours a day. When no programmes are broadcast, a test card will be shown to let you know when GHTV comes to life again.

AND HOW DO I KNOW WHAT'S ON?
Visit GHTV's listings pages to find out what's on when. GHTV broadcasts on Tuesdays and Fridays with an omnibus edition at weekends.

Information on programmes currently showing can be found at http://www.grangehill.net/ghtv/whatson.html.

WOW - THIS SOUNDS TOO GOOD. WHAT'S THE CATCH?
The good news is there isn't one! GHTV is available free to anyone who wants to watch from their PC. But you'll only be able to watch programmes online and they cannot be downloaded to hard drives.

AND THE FUTURE?
The possibilities are endless? As well as classic Grange Hill we may also screen some of the many cast interviews and behind-the-scenes features that have been shown over the years.

Technology exists to make episodes available on-demand while schedules could increase and there's always the option of re-running Grange Hill spin-off Tucker's Luck...

GHTV starts broadcasting this Tuesday - 22 June - at 5:10pm. Help us make internet history by tuning in and let us know what you think about the service. Don't forget to tell your friends - and any Grange Hill actors you know old or new!
