IT'S BACK! All your favourites and more are back in a brand new series, now showing on BBC1.

When we last left Grange Hill, Annie was caught red-handed trying to replace one of the school laptops she'd stolen to pay off her credit card. Mrs Bassinger was in no mood for forgiveness - will a criminal record add to Annie's woes? Togger and Tanya were getting on a bit better last year. But how long before they revert to acting like an old married couple? Meanwhile in Year 8, have the Wannabees learned their lesson after their failed car park scam or was this a minor setback for scam queen Chloe? However, the biggest liability of the Wannabees was always Sammy with her guilty conscience. Can the group survive as a trio?

The answers to these questions and many more in Grange Hill, from Monday 7 November (CBBC) and January 2006 (BBC1). Bookmark this page for backstage updates!

Sammy O'GradyTWO NEW GIRLS, ONE NEW BOY
25/10/2005
Sammy O'Grady (Kathy)
has been telling us to expect some newcomers in the sixth form when the new series begins in two weeks' time. Sammy appeared on the CBBC Channel on Monday to say there will be two new girls and one boy joining her, Maddie and Taylor. One of the girls, as you probably know, will be Holly Parsons (Rebecca Anne Withey), but no details on the others yet!

DON'T CARRY ON AT YOUR CONVENIENCE
The school year will get off to a bad start for pupils caught short - after a blocked sewer closes down the pupils' toilets! The blockage forces pupils to use portaloos but the teachers are all right Jack - their conveniences aren't affected. How long before a desperate pupil gets caught in the staff loos when they can't make it in time?

Meanwhile, the main gang is now in Year 10 and there's a new look for Abel who comes to school in Max Abassi-style braids. And while rumours of a school fire have been officially scotched, there could still be smoke on the horizon - wait and see!

WE'VE GOT IT ALL WRONG, SAY MERSEY TV
None of the events that we've hinted will be happening in the new series of Grange Hill, according to the official site grangehill.com.

Phil Redmond's official site published a statement on Monday declaring that the school would NOT be burning down as reported here, and there will be NO fighting over Baz between Tanya and Karen. Reports that Togger would be getting his eyebrow pierced - nothing to do with GH Online - have also been scotched. Our apologies for misleading anyone, but please remember anything published on this page is given to us in good faith. We cannot verify the accuracy of any details we hear. So there's only one way to find out what really happens in the new series of Grange Hill. Tune in every weekday from Monday 7 November on the CBBC channel, or from January 2006 on BBC1!

Rebecca-Anne WitheyREBECCA IS GRANGE HILL'S FIRST DEAF STUDENT
The identity of Grange Hill's first deaf character has been revealed! Holly Parsons will be played by Rebecca-Anne Withey, from Walsall.

Rebecca, 19, was chosen after a nationwide search for an actress who could sign.

She told BBC News Online: "Lots of exciting things have been happening lately and being in Grange Hill was great."Rebecca is no stranger to television; she's appeared in Channel 4's deaf magazine show Vee-TV and has choreographed musicals at the Mary Hare Grammar school for the deaf. She is now a first year student at Wolverhampton University where she hopes to set up a dance/aerobics class for the deaf.

GRANGE HILL TO BURN AGAIN?
Fires have been as common as lessons over the years at Grange Hill. And there's a chance the school could be going up in flames again!

Just a few years after being rebuilt, pupils again find themselves being evacuated as smoke pours from the building. Maybe it looks worse than it is. Either way, who or what is Grange Hill's latest fire-raiser?

In the sixth form it's passions that are smouldering. Baz is back and looks to life without Maddie. He soon finds two girls fighting for his attentions - Karen, who has fancied him since Year 9, and, uh-oh, her stepsis Tanya! We all know who Tanya really fancies so maybe she's trying to make the Togmeister jealous. But if Karen and Baz finally get it on, she'll have to deal with best mate Maddie...

FLIRTATIOUS MADDIE, BUT WILL BAZ BE BACK?
Back in Year 7, Maddie got a sadistic kick out of making Martin's life hell, due to his Asperger's. Amazingly, Martin never held any grudges and even helped her get back at Tina for ruining her 13th birthday party. And perhaps more surprising - friendship blossomed between Maddie and Martin during the last series. But could things go even further for the unlikely pair? Now in the sixth form, Maddie flirts with her unlikely suitor but can romance blossom between them?

Meanwhile a question mark hangs over Thomas Hudson's future with Grange Hill. The 18-year old actor has recently made guest appearances in BBC1's Casualty as Jamie Coldwell, and will be continuing the role when the new series begins this weekend. No announcements have been made regarding Tom's involvement in Series 29 but having lost Maddie, Baz may feel he's got no reason to stick around at Grange Hill. But he could also be back - you'll have to wait and see!

Chris CrookallANDY'S HAIRY MOMENT
Everyone knows Andy Turner has always been more grown up than best pal Togger. But even he could be taking things too far in the new series - Andy will be sporting a moustache! Is it real or another of the lads' pranks - who knows. But keep an eye out for the CBBC Autumn Trail and you'll be able to see Andy's whiskers for yourself.

CONFIRMED RETURNEES FOR 2006
It might be another two months away for CBBC viewers, but already the new series of Grange Hill is being trailed on CBBC. Watch out for the CBBC Autumn Promo which contains snippets of Series 29 interspersed with other goodies coming this autumn.

And if you haven't yet seen the promo, we can reveal most of your Grange Hill favourites will be back. You'll definitely be seeing Togger, Andy, Emma, Tanya, Taylor and Maddie in the new series, while Mr Malachay is back in the staffroom. We'll let you know about the others as soon as we know!

CBBCSCHOOL STARTS EARLY NEXT YEAR
If you've just started your summer holidays that's probably something you don't want to hear - but don't panic - what we mean is that for the first time ever, you'll be able to see the new series of Grange Hill BEFORE Christmas!

Series 29 will premier on the CBBC Channel from November and episodes will be shown every day instead of twice weekly. However, if you don't have digital fear not - the series will continue to be shown on BBC1, twice a week in January. But why is the new series being shown first on CBBC?

"CBBC is the perfect channel for trying something new with GRANGE HILL. We want to give viewers a chance to watch the show every night of the week during November so that they can see the stories unfold at the same pace as their own school lives," explains producer Karl Dolan. "The more traditional two episodes per week pattern will follow on BBC1 in January 2006, but before that viewers will have a chance to see Grange Hill first on CBBC."

So don't forget - the new series of Grange Hill starts Monday 07 November on CBBC. But if you prefer to wait - you can!

Kacey BarnfieldKACEY RETURNS TO GRANGE HILL
Rumours of Maddie's departure from Grange Hill appear to have been premature, it seems! Kacey Barnfield has confirmed she will be appearing in the new series next year, which will see Maddie progress to the sixth form. At the moment we don't know if any of her classmates will be returning, but we'll keep you posted!

FILMING BEGINS...AND LOTS OF NEW CHARACTERS
The school holidays are almost in full swing so the cameras are rolling again at Grange Hill. Still not much in the way of details just now - but we can promise you "loads of new characters" for Series 29. That's according to one magazine, apparently. But you'll have to wait to find out who they are!

LOOKING FORWARD...2006 AT GRANGE HILL
It's only been a couple of months since the latest series of Grange Hill ended. But plans are now well in hand for next year's series of Grange Hill, which includes a new disabled character joining the sixth form.

Grange Hill producers made a nationwide appeal for an actress age 15-18 to audition as a deaf character. Applicants did not have to be deaf, but the ability to sign was an advantage. Casting workshops for the part were being held at Mersey TV at the end of April.

Reece NoiBACK TO SCHOOL FOR...
Reece Noi
(Taylor) has let slip he'll be back at Grange Hill next year. Reece made his announcement during an interview for CBBC on 23 March. Watch the interview, which also features Chris Perry Metcalf and Holly Quin-Ankrah, right here!
