YOU'RE NICKED
by David Hanson

A visiting performance artist is due to visit the school. The pupils are not keen - Gyngell would rather be in the library but Clooney ropes him in, saying there might be girls there. Likewise Tigger and Ed have only volunteered because Sammy and Alison have too. Mrs Rawlinson believes she has found her man when Sammy and Alison direct her towards the CLC, where pensioner Frank Hooper is waiting for them. He asks for a webcam and a PC for his "act"; Rawlinson is annoyed the girls appear to be laughing at Frank blissfully unaware she's really what's tickling them, having left a roller in her hair!

Chloe and Andrea panic when they see a policeman talking to Mr McDonnell, not realising he's the real performance artist, PC McGuffin. With Tigger and Ed as his "deputies", McGuffin presents a case for the pupils to solve. Theo and Clooney both sense something isn't quite right about their "case". Tigger and Ed are annoyed by younger pupils asking them for clues when Tigger notices his mobile is missing - and in the hall, so is Ed's. Immediately Tigger suspects Chloe who was hanging around outside, but Theo has noticed McGuffin acting strangely, carrying someone's bag and not expecting to run into the boys.

In the CLC, Frank continues to happily write his blog but the girls still think he's the performance artist and are bemused by his failure to set them anything to do. They copy his arm-waving, thinking it's drama they're doing. By the time Ms Rawlinson has returned everyone is now drawing Frank as he works. Frank wolf-whistles at Rawlinson when he spots her skirt tucked inside her knickers - and the pupils all let her stew! Before long, everyone is getting bored of just sitting there watching Frank.

Back in the playground, Tigger grabs Chloe and warns her to return their things or they'll tell "the copper". The girls deny they've stolen anything but Andrea especially is shaken, unaware McGuffin is just an actor. Chloe orders Andrea to empty her locker and, fearful of a court appearance and prison, they attempt to offload their swag onto passers-by but no-one will take it. Genuinely fearful the law is catching up with them, Chloe and Andrea resolve not to steal again and contemplate the future banged up together. Just as the girls make a "blood sisters" pact, Clooney and Gyngell accost them and reveal PC McGuffin isn't a real copper.

Alison meets up with Tigger and Ed and discovers Frank isn't the performance artist. Tigger suspects the Frank is the real thief when he hears he's been listening to an MP3 player. Year 10 alert Ms Rawlinson who confronts Frank - now giving his "class" a ballroom dance lesson - and frogmarches him off to Mr McDonnell when he mentions her (still not spotted) skirt malfunction. Chloe and Andrea race to the hall to confront PC McGuffin, but the policeman they meet is a real one investigating Frank's car for out-of-date tax(!)

Everyone argues the toss as to who's the thief when Laxo presents his theory - he suggests the real thief is PC McGuffin - they'd been following him round all day and he was in the hall with everyone's bags. McGuffin tries to sneak away but he's lead away in cuffs as the staff have to apologise to Frank. Mr McDonnell thanks the pupils for their help and Chloe and Andrea contemplate their day - Chloe has no intention of going straight yet!
