Confident, althletic and good-looking,
Ed has very different physical characteristics from his best
friend Alex. The pair have been inseperable for years and Alex's
size goes unnoticed by Ed. The new world of Grange Hill and
its distractions made it hard for Ed and best friend Alex to
carry on as before. Ed wants to have a good time and will get
in with anyone who can offer it to him. But following Alex's
suicide attempt the pair have emerged with a stronger bond.
But why is Ed not keen to encourage Tigger to get with Alison?
Year
7 Ed finds Tigger's company more fun, leaving
Alex to fend for himself. He later confesses to
Alison he's embarrassed to be seen with Alex. But
following Alex's suicide attempt, Ed realises what
a moron he's been and their old friendship is repaired.
Year 8 Ed, Tigger, Alex and Alison launch
the G-1 car races for the Enterprise scheme. Ed
tells everyone he's going to Disneyland in the
summer and a friend can come if they pay. Tigger
wants to go but is broke. Ed sends Chloe packing
when she threatens to tell the world about his
problems at home.
Year 9 Ed and Tigger withdraw their labour
when Alex is unable to pay them on his smoothie
stall. He is unaware of the hold the Humphries have
over him. Ed is unable to forgive when Alex steals
his digital camera to keep the Humphries sweet,
until Alison reminds him of how he risks letting
his best mate down again. Ed and Tigger's radio
magic enterprise is a runaway success but Mr McDonnell
suspects they are conning everyone.
Year 10 Ed is unwilling to help when Tigger
asks his advice on wooing Alison. It's later revealed
Alison has been seeing him over the summer - the
gang are furious he lied to them especially Tigger
and Alex who both hold a candle for her. Alison
dumps Ed, and the gang is reconciled.
