| As 2006 drew to a close, GH Online received
a lot of e-mails from former cast members. So we start the new year
with some more shouts from Grange Hill favourites:
Video
archive - a Gem of an idea! 01/01/2007
Maggie Mason played the loveable Gemma Lyons in the 1990s, and
was delighted to hear about GH Online's archiving project:
"I just wanted to say thank you for putting GH on DVD. I was
on the show for a few years and we'd try to tape it but I think
all the videos have been lost. I'd love to be able to have those
episodes as a memento. I wish I could offer to help but sadly I'm
useless with technology. Also, do you know how I could find out
the names of the crew members from the seasons I was there ('97,
'98, '99) because I'd like to get in contact with some of them.
"
Hi Maggie - great to hear from you and we loved Gemma's antics.
You made her so real! Just to clarify, we are not releasing Grange
Hill on DVD but creating an internal archive from our off-air recordings
of Grange Hill to preserve the series for future generations.
It'll be a pleasure to supply copies of your episodes. We don't
have crew details to hand but they will be on the episode credits
- is there someone particular you wanted to get in touch with? Best
wishes and great to hear from you!
Sarah-Jane
hopes for friends reunited
In 2000, feisty Sarah-Jane Webster left Grange Hill for business
school. What about her alter-ego, Laura Hammett? Over to you Laura...
"Hi, My brother Steve told me that
you have put him in contact with some ex-cast members. I thought
that I would drop you an e-mail to see if you can put me in touch
with anyone? Like so many, I am not acting anymore and have done
nothing worth mentioning since GH. Thanks." No problem
Laura! We'll send the details we have and hope you manage to get
back in touch. Sorry you're no longer in "the business"
but our best wishes to you and Steve.
East goes West - to married life 01/01/2007
Finally, you might not remember a Phil Skeates in Grange Hill,
but you'll know his wife: "Hi. My
wife Lisa Skeates (then Lisa East) was in Grange Hill from 1982
to 1984, she played the part of Christine Everson. She is now married
to myself and we have three children and live in Swindon in Wiltshire.
I know she would be interested in info you have or events etc. Look
forward to your reply."
Hi Phil - thanks for the info about Lisa and hope married life
is treating you well! At the moment, GH Online exists primarily
as a web presence and we don't organise any events ourselves. However,
we can sometimes put castmates back in touch and it's not uncommon
for ex-cast to hold their own "school reunions" every
so often! We'll be glad to help however we can; thanks for writing.
