Togger about to lose his crown? 14/11/2006

Sarah thinks a newcomer could steal Togger's crown as Grange Hill's hottest hunk: "I think Chris-Perry-Metcalf is so hot! To all you Togger fans out there wait till the next series. I'm not sure what part he is going to play but a lad called Danny Miller who goes to my school is in the next series of GH. He is ABSOLUTLY GORGEOUS!!! Far hotter than togger! Just watch this space I'm sure you will love him!!!"

Ooh Sarah - you might have started something here! Chris remains enormously popular but you actually think there's someone hotter than the Togmeister? Let us judge for ourselves when Danny arrives at Grange Hill next year! In the meantime, I don't suppose you could find out what part he's playing?

All Saints at Grange Hill? 10/11/2006

Gary Thompson writes: "Hi, can you tell me if Nicole or Natalie Appleton from the "ALL SAINTS" ever appeared in Grange Hill. Thanks." Hi Gary. A little dabbling on Wikipedia reveals Natalie appeared in a 1986 episode of Grange Hill; at the time she was a pupil at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Marylebone. Nicole was also at Sylvia Young but it's not know if she appeared in Grange Hill or not. Hope this helps!

Dudley seeks his classmates 07/11/2006

If you remember "Shine" tags, aspirations to become a dentist and general madness with Dennis and Josh, you'll know our next writer: "My name is Steve Hammett and I used to play Dudley Wesker in Grange Hill between 1991 and 1997 (I think) and would be interested in any services you may provide to reunite with some of the cast members. I have lost contact with most of the cast members since finishing filming and would love to catch up with any of my former colleagues. PS. Yes, Laura (Sarah-Jane) is my little sister."

Hi Steve and welcome to GH Online! Sorry you lost contact with your classmates; luckily we've heard from a number of your colleagues including Fiona Wade, Melanie Joseph and Jamie Groves. We've forwarded your details onto them. What are you doing these days Steve? Lots of fans would like to know; hope you like the site and feel free to get involved!

Love him 2 bits Love his bestest fan, Jess from Liverpool, 16 xxxxxx" Of course this is the right e-mail address - Can U Help is the page you write! I don't know if Chris reads this page but if he does I'm sure he'll be glad to see your message. BTW, Chris now has his own website www.chrisperrymetcalf.com - check out his monthly blog and official downloads!

Behind the scenes of the UN conference 01/11/2006

Marc Green appeared in Grange Hill's "UN conference" storyline back in 1984, and shares his experiences with us: "I appeared in two episodes of Grange Hill where the storyline was about a junior UN conference. We filmed at Bedford College in Regents Park. Gina Bellman was in the cast as well as a girl called Debbie Killingback who later appeared in the Last Christmas video from Wham. I even had a few lines which I learnt beforehand only to have them changed, rearranged and invariably cut during filming or editing. As an overweight kid I also fitted very well into the usual fat kid slot of being essentially a food guzzling nerd with bad dress sense and an even smaller chance of pulling than the Elephant Man at a nuns' convention! Anyway, it was great fun and we got paid for it which was pretty cool. After the show aired I got two fan letters via the BBC – both arrived over a year after they had been posted. I was also asked for my autograph a few times whilst on the train or bus going to or from school.

"After Grange Hill I did a lot of amdram stuff and also a few bits at Uni. I wanted to take it further but decided to get my degree and then travel – which I did. I then started working in publishing – selling advertising for 12 years for some of the big houses in mainly niche titles. I then moved into the charity sector where I currently work raising money and awareness for cross cultural projects in Israel helping Jews, Christians, Arabs and Palestinians. I still dabble in some acting, singing and dancing as well as writing for various things. Came across your website by accident but thought I would post my info."

Hi Marc and thanks for the info! As you probably know, Gina Bellman continues to act and was most recently in the BBC2 sitcom "Coupling". Sorry to hear your lines were cut; I suppose there was a lot to get in to those two episodes, but it's always a pleasure to hear from people who've taken part in the making of Grange Hill. Good luck with the charity work and nice to hear you're still treading the boards!
