Tanya faces her first school council meeting and is not looking forward to it. Martin is also nervous about his meeting with the incinerator firm; Holly doesn't relish it either, believing she won't be able to join in. Emma asks Taylor to publicise the Indonesian exchange but he isn't interested.

Year 8 discover a fault in the track design which causes cars to keep crashing in the same place. Mr Fox sets Year 10 the task of solving the problem. Sammy sits with Alison in art; Chloe is not amused and tips water over Alison's work. The G-1 heats get off to a great start, with Chloe and Sammy running a book. Alex is winning his heat with Alison when Chloe sabotages the race. Chloe accuses Alex of cheating; Alex knows Chloe was responsible but Ed calls a marshal's enquiry. Mr Fox suspends the races until adjudication procedures can be implemented.

Eleanor throws a magazine at Martin to get his attention; he spills coffee all over his shirt. Jeremy writes a love poem for Tanya which is read out on The Hill. Tanya finds the school council meeting hard going. She doesn't like having to wait to put her point across, when she does, Eleanor accuses Tanya of stirring up trouble and says the PE kit issue would never be approved. In any case, the governors would have the final say which leaves Tanya more disillusioned.

Ms Rawlinson takes Holly and Martin to the incinerator firm. The experience is awkward for Martin, he refuses to shake Mr Dexter's hand or to sit down in the meeting. Mr Dexter poses some awkward questions which railroad Martin. Holly is forced to tell him about Martin's Asperger's, Dexter's initial response is mocking but then she tells him about the competition and the good publicity that would arise from lending two "disadvantaged" students the incinerator. Dexter agrees - and throws an engineer into the bargain!

Mr Fox collars Togger about his idea to improve the toilets; after a meeting with Mrs Bassinger he finds himself saddled with the project. Togger blames Tanya for opening her mouth. Taylor's sarcasm gets him taken off Radio Grange Hill. Eleanor tells the sixth form Maddie has left, but Taylor is confident she'd be back. Mooey chases Chloe into the toilets and forces her to hand over the takings. Togger and Tanya go head-to-head in their respective crusades.
