Tanya puts up a banner for the referendum, but the results don't seem to matter with Emma gone. Jeremy skulks around and takes great pleasure admiring the view while Tanya is up a stepladder. Kathy storms in and orders Tanya to remove the banner; she has to get the cafe ready for "Battle of the Bands". Mrs Bassinger's arrival averts a more heated confrontation.

In Science, Ms Rawlinson has Alex mixing up his smoothies in the centrifuge. He's shocked to find they have a high fat content - how can he sell them now? This doesn't bother Kathy, on edge following her break-up with Spencer and she isn't interested in Martin's claims of cheating by the wind turbine group. Donnie sends Martin into orbit by touching him. Kathy is shocked that Baz doesn't intervene. An unkempt Goth asks for Kathy in the common room. Martin recognises him as Wayne, from the wind turbine project; Kathy seems quite taken with him.

Year 10 receive a surprise visitor - Emma! Her mum had a furious row with Robin and once they got to Indonesia, she booked the first flight home. Emma feels guilty for ruining her mum's chance of happiness. Togger returns and is assigned to making up ballot papers for the referendum. He and Tanya distribute them. Togger brags about his new girlfriend to Tanya - one of the Martian Twins! Jeremy follows Tanya until he is caught out. Taylor ignores his radio ban; a friendly chat from Mr Fox persuades him to finish his coursework.

Battle Of The Bands kicks off with Mrs Bassinger announcing the referendum result - the girls have voted to reinstate tracksuits. Mrs Bassinger praises Tanya's handling of the affair. Alex and Tigger prepare the smoothies but the sink becomes blocked. Mooey "reminds" Alex about the G-1 heats but Alex foils his attempt to steal the takings. Mooey guzzles a whole container full of smoothie; more than his stomach can hold. Dawn is there with her camcorder when he throws up!

Dawn accuses Kathy of being pretentious; Kat tells her some home truths. Jeremy asks Tanya out - rather loudly - and to his surprised she says yes! Martin criticises Baz for becoming as bigoted as Donnie. Baz loses his cool when Donnie slags off Holly and his dad; they slug it out until Mrs Bassinger disperses them. Holly thanks Baz for sticking up for her; maybe there's hope of a reconciliation?
