Abel's rift with his dad intensifies when Dad finds out he'd taken the medal. Tigger comes to school with an old handheld game Togger gave him; it's the day of his G-1 heat but with no car he can't take part. When Alex makes an innocent joke about jumble sales, and Ed spills Tipp-Ex on his blazer, Tigger lashes out at his mates.
Kathy gets earache from Wally about the state of the cafe. To make matters worse, Dawn parades round with a camcorder filming the mess. Taylor demands a refund from Max. Mrs Bassinger tackles Taylor about missed lessons but he assures her all due assignments were in hand. Max is listening nearby...in the common room, Max lies in wait with his goons and delights in telling everyone Taylor is on the brink of being thrown out of school. Taylor bends down to retrieve some papers; Max treads on his hand. Baz and Donnie arrive during the fray but Donnie doesn't intervene. Baz asks Donnie why not; he insists it's because there was something about "Taylor's sort".
Tigger chokes back tears as he tries to wash his blazer. Togger tries assuring his brother things would turn out OK - Tim is certain his parents would split up, then everyone would know. Chloe steals Tigger's handheld and warns him to "keep her sweet" if he doesn't want everyone knowing his business. Alex and Ed intervene when Chloe holds Tigger to ransom in a classroom; Tim pre-empts her by revealing all about his home life. The lads are fully supportive; Chloe slinks off after being forced to return Tigger's property.Wally supervises the G-1 heats. Mooey warns Alex "he doesn't like losing", forcing Alex to throw the round in his favour. Emma is increasingly depressed about her departure and asks Tanya "would anyone notice if she disappeared". Tanya soon realises Emma is going to run away; with her bag packed she plans to vanish after school. Tanya catches up with her and eventually persuades Emma to come back to her place. Tanya realises she's been neglecting Emma but Baz thought she was losing interest.
Abel searches the web and finds an article concerning a race row his father was embroiled in during his days as an athlete. Mr Benson is shocked when Abel turns up at his dad's shop wanting answers. Why did he allow a racist coach to end his career? Dad explains racism was rife back and there was nothing he could do. Abel tells Dad he only joined the academy to please him but the pressure was too much. Mr Benson is unmoved - a true athlete responds to pressure and Abel could have achieved so much more than he did. With the conversation going nowhere, Abel heads back to school.Taylor pops out of the common room, leaving his work behind. Max sees his chance and rips Taylor's work to shreds. Taylor confronts Max in the after-school cafe - Max takes exception to being called a "meathead" and a mass brawl erupts. Donnie again refuses to get involved; Kathy shocks herself by throwing food at Dawn! Suddenly Mrs Bassinger appears, demanding answers...
