Abel asks Togger if he could stay at his for a bit. Togger isn't keen - his parents are at each other's throats while Mum was worrying about the mortgage and having to sell the car. Togger is determined to hide the truth from his brother. Tanya and Baz smooch round the back of the school while Karen fears Baz is taking advantage of Tanya's instability. Kathy thinks she should be more trusting of them both.

Baz tramples on Tigger's lunchbox. He begs Togger to lend him some dinner money but is sent packing. The after-hours cafe is suffering because of Dawn's choice of artwork. Kathy is annoyed when Dawn swans off to leave her to manage the sinking ship. The market is bottoming out of Chloe's lost property scam; Chloe suggests they steal stuff, hand it in to lost property and sell it once it isn't claimed. Sammy is shocked but Chloe is still annoyed with her for letting Max take the CD player.

Kathy confronts Taylor over missing lessons. He needs to take care of E-Grange and asks to borrow her notes. She agrees - if he promised not to miss more classes. Emma behaves belligerently in class, informing Malachay she "couldn't be bothered" to do his coursework. He orders her to stay behind; Emma reveals her visa had come and any hope she had of staying at Grange Hill was now dashed. Emma lashes out at Tanya for not being there when she needed to talk.

Togger, Abel and Andy catch Baz and Tanya necking. Togger's mood suddenly worsens and he berates Baz for destroying Tigger's lunchbox. Next to catch them in a clinch is Karen; Baz is angry that Karen could even think he'd force her into anything, but Karen fears Tanya would gain a reputation for herself. Donnie arrives and wonders how on earth Karen and Tanya could be sisters; Karen takes this as a racial insult and Taylor is not amused when he hears.

Baz is troubled by Donnie's remarks about Karen. The pair are ambushed by Max and his goons. A cross-school chase ensues; Malachay pulls up some of the henchmen but when Max finally corners Baz, he scares them off. Andy offers Abel a bed for the night, but tells him to sort things out with his dad. Abel produces a medal he found under the sofa - what was it for? Chloe lifts some hair straighteners from the toilets, poses for a photo with a stolen jacket then gets Sammy to swipe beads from a girl's hair. Max forces a Year 8 boy to steal Baz's bike and give it to E-Grange. Taylor buys it for £10, not realising whose bike it is but Baz knows Max was behind it.

In town, a blazing row erupts when Tigger throws away the car he'd trashed. Togger lays into him for being irresponsible and they almost come to blows. Togger is forced to admit Dad had lost his job but all Tigger seems concerned about was his upcoming birthday. Chloe hears everything and gleefully winds up Tigger. Sammy stands up to Chloe for once - how could she be so cruel when her own dad was on the sick (but well enough to go down the pub)? Chloe vows she and Andrea would "sort her out"... Tigger arrives home in a state, thinking his parents are about to divorce...
