Term starts proper and Mr
Malachay rolls into school on a new bike, identical to Baz's. The
Year 7s are shocked by the number of other pupils. Emma returns from
holiday refreshed and much happier - she's been spending more time
with her mum and is also feeling the benefits of seeing her counsellor.
Tanya has lost hone of her rebellious streak, sporting hair braids
and a tattoo on her ankle.
Year 9 are aghast to discover Mr Malachay is their new form tutor.
More demonic and up himself than ever, he pulls up Tanya about her
new look and when Togger tries to look at her ankle he finds himself
in trouble. Malachay sets his new form the task of writing to Grange
Hill's French twin school. Togger copies his letter from a French
website and during the lesson Jeremy lets it slip that he and Emma
had been to a Britney concert together. Emma is left embarrassed
as Annie and Tanya draw their own conclusions, but Jeremy has nothing
to hide, insisting two people can do something as friends.
Sammy brings in some out of date sweets for lunch from her Saturday
job. Chloe suggests they set up a tuck shop business, so Sammy agrees
to bring in more. Mooey takes a shot at Alex about his size, so do
the Wannabees. Alex gives as good as he gets but it was clear the
taunts were getting to him. Alex is upset when Ed deserts him to play
football. However, things look up when the mysterious Alison - thought
of as a snob by the other girls for keeping herself to herself - is
nice to him.
Taylor thinks Karen is going to give him another lecture, but they
agree to give each other a new start. Karen is impressed by Taylor's
musical project in the CLC. The atmosphere has soured between Baz
and Maddie and he's furious when Maddie sticks up for Taylor in
an exchange with Karen. Annie challenges Baz about getting back
with Maddie, but he claims to have moved on. Both Mrs Bassinger
and Mr Malachay challenge Tanya about her new look, and she flatly
refuses to comply. Mrs Bassinger offers Tanya a deal - she can keep
her braids if she writes a 1000-word essay on the origins of Rastafarianism
- alas Tanya suffers humiliation at the hands of Malachay when she
has to admit the tattoo is a fake.
Togger, Abel and Andy discover Wally sorting plants for the school
garden. When his back is turned, they use canteen trays to "surf"
on the tarpaulin. Malachay catches them red-handed and the trio end
up with detention. A truckload of manure gives Togger the perfect
idea of revenge; they trick the driver into dumping his load onto
Malachay's new bike. Unfortunately it is Baz's bike they sabotaged
and when Baz comes to claim it - seething from a row with Maddie -
he makes Togger and co. dig it out! |
