A brand new gang of Year
7s descend on Grange Hill for their induction day. Togger escorts
younger brother Tigger into school and is determined to get a photo
to prove he was successful. Tigger dislikes his nickname and insists
everyone called him Tim. Alex brings his radio-controlled airship
into school. Tigger ties his tie - and Mum's mobile - to it. Chloe
commandeers the remote control - causing the blimp to hit Mr Malachay
on the head as he cycles into school! Baz rolls in to school on a
brand new bike - things are a lot better at home but one thing is
missing from his life - Maddie. He's surprised to see her in school
and they exchange uneasy pleasantries. Taylor is back a day early
- thinking it's the start of term proper. In assembly, Mrs Bassinger
gives the newcomers a video presentation. Chloe taunts Alex about
his size (she tells him he was "totally eclipsing the screen") and
has another go at lunchtime when they see Alex eating from a large
lunchbox. Dawn warns Andrea to avoid her in school and Togger does
likewise.
Malachay and Wally chase the blimp with a huge net, Togger and
Abel find it first when the mobile rings. Malachay confronts the
lads when he retrieves the tie (it has Togger's name on it) and
they cannot convince him of their innocence. They set about rescuing
it from upstairs and hold it to ransom until Tim agrees to pose
for his photo. Tigger cons Wally into wielding the lock off Togger's
locker so he can retrieve the blimp. He then appears on the football
pitch to goad his brother, who runs after him.
Kathy and Martin are uneasy around each other as they show the new
pupils round. She is secretly hoping to get back with him, but Martin
explains his mum has suggested he did what he wanted - not what others
expect of him. It is the last day of Mr Malachay's football camp.
The lads are curious about the presence of a stranger on the field
and eventually force Malachay to reveal the man is a talent scout
for the local squad. Malachay confiscates Togger's phone and pulls
him off the pitch as punishment. Tigger goads his brother with the
evidence he's retrieved the blimp.
Spencer is keen to show new Lower Sixth pupils Dawn, Katrina and
Kate around. They seem unimpressed with his efforts but Kat confesses
she was taken with Spencer. The man himself promptly appears and
puts his foot in it saying drama is boring - not wise considering
the girls are drama students!
Maddie tells a crestfallen Baz she still cared for him a lot but doesn't
want to risk being hurt again. Mrs Bassinger informs Taylor that Mr
Green has left. She also makes clear she is concerned about Taylor's
classwork and, as he's already missed so much school, she isn't prepared
to enter him for GCSEs he won't pass. At the end of the day, Togger
catches up with Tigger flying the blimp. Sammy and Andrea are dreading
their first "proper" day at school but Chloe seems to take things
in her stride. As Malachay is distracted breaking up a fight, Miss
Lawrence runs over his bike and Togger finally gets his photo! |
