It's Year 7 induction day and a new gang of first years nervously
arrive at Grange Hill. Togger and Andy are driven to school by Togger's
Uncle Peter (Tucker). Mr Malachay, the officious new sportsmaster,
reminds Tucker parents' cars aren't allowed in the school grounds.
Tucker gives as good as he gets.
Karen offers to take Tanya into school but she refuses. As Annie -
another Year 7 - leaves the front door, a bottle is thrown at her
from inside. In the playground, Abel plays football when bullies Max
and Mooey take his ball. They demand he begs for it back - Togger
and Andy intervene.
Leah and Shannon are again best friends - Leah confides about her
parents' separation. She is determined to make a clean break from
her past troubles. Mr Robson tells Leah he was planning to get Grange
Hill special technology status; he offers Leah a place on the consultative
committee but she refuses, clearly upset about her home life. Shannon
is taken with Mr Malachay, but Ian finds himself on the wrong side
of him for using the gym without permission. "Mr Robson warned
me about you..." he sneers.
In the assembly hall, Mrs Bassinger allocates the Year 7s to their
forms. Togger is left out; eventually he is placed in Miss Dyson's
form with Emma, Jeremy and Tanya. Annie turns up late and Togger is
not amused having to sit next to Tanya. Miss Dyson pulls Tanya up
for wearing a lip ring. Emma feels isolated and starts chatting to
Jeremy in class. Unfortunately Jeremy falls foul of Max and Mooey;
they warn him in no uncertain terms "This is our school..."
Building work continues after last term's fire; the lads spread rumours
about casualties. Maddie is furious with boyfriend Baz and tackles
him about why they can never go back to his place. They end up kissing.
Max and Mooey have another go at Jeremy. Abel tackles them but Max
throws his football boots up on the school roof. Togger and Andy come
to his rescue. |
